Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker later this month will host the Play Ball Summer initiative of the U.S. Conference of Mayors to provide play opportunities for youth interested in baseball and softball.

The free event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 25, at Ocee Park, 10900 Buice Road. Prizes will be given out while supplies last. Registration is not required.

The promotion “focuses on the fun nature of baseball land encourages an active and healthy lifestyle for kids in all communities,” according to an announcement of the event.
