The Johns Creek City Council has approved a fiscal 2018 budget that officials say prioritizes public safety, traffic congestion relief and improving the recreation and parks system.

The document calls for a $54.3 million general fund, and spending of $43.6 million for government services and $10.7 million for long-term infrastructure maintenance accruals, replacement vehicle accruals, capital projects and E911 services.

About $250,000 is designated for construction documents for a fourth fire station, $134,244 for a new police officer including vehicle and equipment, $7 million for street repaving and $500,000 for new sidewalks.

“The maintenance accruals are an element of our annual budget that sets Johns Creek apart from other cities,” Mayor Mike Bodker said. “It shows our dedication to balancing new projects and priorities with the maintenance of our existing infrastructure.”

The council also approved a property tax millage rate of 4.360, unchanged from last year’s rate.
