McDonough officials announced this week that the area surrounding the Briggs & Stratton plant has received special consideration by the state for tax credit status upon the creation of new jobs.

The designation was mostly the result of the closing of the Briggs & Stratton location, formerly the Snapper plant, and the loss of more than 400 jobs at the facility. A manufacturer who creates 50 new jobs in the designated area could receieve up to $875,000 in tax credits over five years, according to a statement from the city. Information: www.mcdonoughga.org.
