Fifteen nominees have applied to fill a new Cherokee County State Court judicial seat and will be interviewed Tuesday. Among those vying for the position are Cherokee County Solicitor General David Cannon; Chief Assistant Solicitor Barry Hixson; and former county Solicitor General Channing Ruskell. Also nominated are Cherokee County Magistrate Judges Nancy Carson and Joseph Oczkowski.

The Judicial Nominating Commission will conduct interviews, then create a short list of three to five candidates for recommendation to Gov. Sonny Perdue. The governor will make the final selection, said Barbara Watson, executive assistant to Mike Bowers, chairman of the commission.

Other nominees include: Benson Chambers, Hugh Dorsey, Gregory Hicks, Thomas Holbird, Jonathan Kesler, Jennifer Marcotte, Dee A. Morris, Nancy Pasterz, Jeffrey Rusbridge and Timothy White.
