A man who traveled from Kentucky to Paulding County intending to have sex with a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Jeffrey Nickel, 32, of Louisville was sentenced in federal court on Friday for the 2008 crime.

Lenny Carr, a detective with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, began an undercover investigation of Nickel in April 2008. Carr posed as a 14-year-old girl in online chat conversations. During the conversations, Nickel sent nude photos of himself and requested nude photos of the girl in return.

In June 2008, Nickel traveled to Paulding County intending to have sex with her and was arrested. He was convicted of coercion and enticement last December.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and U.S. Marshal's Office, worked on the case.
