The man famous for singing, “It’s a great day to be alive” really means it this week.

A fire damaged the playground by Travis Tritt's longtime Paulding County home, the country songster posted on Twitter. No one was injured, and firefighters were able to contain the blaze quickly, Tritt said.

“Fire destroyed the kids playground at my house today,” Tritt said on social media Wednesday. “Thanking God that nobody was hurt and no other major damage.”

He posted a picture on Thursday showing the charred ground that remained on the now-empty playground.

“I want thank all who expressed concern over the playground fire at my home,” Tritt said in the post. “Huge thanks to the firefighters also!”

The Marietta-native Tritt, 53, has been married to his third wife since 1997, and the couple has three children. Tritt is currently on tour and is scheduled to perform Friday night at Quapaw, Okla.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
