The Highway 316 west bridge to Interstate 85 South is now closed for emergency repairs.

A section of roadway was reported settled at 8:20 a.m. this morning at the southern end of the bridge from State Route 316 west to Interstate 85 South. Settling created a rut between the asphalt roadway and the concrete bridge structure.

Georgia DOT Engineers have closed the entire bridge to traffic as a “wedge” of asphalt will be used to fill in the opening created by settling.

Traffic will use the Express Lane from SR 316 west to I-85 south. The toll is now suspended and will remain suspended while traffic uses this lane as a detour. Delays are expected in the area as the repair occurs.

Crews expect the repair to be completed by 5 p.m. today.
