Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason, volunteers from the Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association, city officials, dignitaries and several hundred members of the public gathered June 15 for the official dedication of the city’s new Veterans Monument. The highlight of the hour-long ceremony included the unveiling of six sculptures representing each of the Armed Forces and the Federal Military Reserve as well as an eagle sculpture atop a globe representing the presence of the U.S. Armed forces around the world.

According to PTCVETS Executive Director/Chairman Bob Ballagh, the area is very much a monument “honoring all military veterans past, present and future” and not simply a memorial honoring the dead.

The 2,500-square-foot monument plaza, located within the city’s new Town Center, has been designed to be a dignified place where individuals may come and reflect, and where veterans, schools and civic organizations may hold ceremonies and educational opportunities.
