Human skeletal remains were found Wednesday afternoon in northwest Atlanta, according to police.
The bones were found near the intersection of Proctor Street and Paines Avenue, near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, Officer John Chafee with Atlanta police said.
Investigators believe the bones had been there for at least a year, Chafee said. The age or gender of the victim could not be determined.
The remains will be sent to the medical examiner's office for testing, police said.
