The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning trick-or-treaters to avoid homes where registered sex offenders live.

Sex offenders' addresses are available online at www.dekalbsheriff.org, which provides a quick reference link to the national sex offender database. Use the "Search for Offenders in Your Area" link.

There are 950 registered sex offenders in DeKalb, the sheriff’s office said. Another 77 are in custody at the DeKalb jail.

The sheriff’s office is visiting 10 sex offenders who are forced to wear monitoring devices because they are consider “predators.” This is to remind them of restrictions against “enticing children with decorations or by leaving their homes on Halloween night,” the agency said.
