Cierra Williams, the woman who survived a fall from the W Hotel last weekend, can communicate through written messages, a friend says.

Williams, 25, and LaShawna Threatt fell from the hotel’s 10th floor early Saturday morning when they crashed through a window while play-fighting during Threatt’s 30th birthday celebration, witnesses  said. Threatt died from her injuries; Williams was critically injured and is being treated for internal injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Williams has been able to communicate through written messages, a friend told Channel 2 Action News.

“She took a marker and wrote to me,” Kay Clark told Channel 2’s Linda Stouffer.

“She's alert. She knows what's going on,” Clark said. “She keeps asking for LaShawna. I couldn't tell her.

“It just wasn’t God’s will for Lashawna to live, but Cierra’s a miracle,” Clark told Channel 2.

Threatt's boyfriend, Ray Hamilton, said he and six others had  been in the hotel room for about 10 minutes when the incident happened.

Hamilton said Threatt and Williams were near the window, horseplaying, tickling each other and hugging.

“They leaned back a little bit, and they just went out,” he said.

Funeral services for Threatt will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at World Changers Church in College Park. A fundraiser was held Wednesday night at the Aurum Lounge on Peachtree Street to help defray costs of the service.
