Whether offering challenging math courses in Lawrenceville or educating future thespians in Decatur, one ranking reports that 21 metro Atlanta schools are leading the pack in test scores, teacher quality and student culture.
Lawrenceville's Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology ranked No. 1 on the list of the top 100 public high schools in Georgia by Niche.com, which ranks K-12 schools and colleges according to students test scores, surveys and other data.
Niche developed the ranking from the school districts' latest U.S. Department of Education data, usually from 2013-14. The ranking also heavily incorporated alumni, parent and student surveys in many categories, as well as schools' self-reported data on test scores, college readiness and teacher quality.
The top 25 list of Georgia high schools includes 22 metro Atlanta schools, six in Fulton County, five in Gwinnett County and three each in Cobb and DeKalb counties.
Forsyth and Fayette counties and Buford and Decatur city schools also made the list with one school each.
