Members of Henry County’s Board of Education got a chance last week to highlight the district’s success before a statewide audience.
The leaders took part in the Georgia School Boards Association Fall Conference at the Waverly Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta. Educational bodies from all over the state convened at the conference to talk about teaching.
Henry's board held a discussion about the county's successful last several years during the second day of the Dec. 4-6 meeting. At the session, the leaders talked about strategic priorities, core beliefs and commitments and the essential role of policy development -- both operational and reform.
“We make sure that we take time to celebrate and recognize our students and most definitely our staff all across our district for the job they do each day,” board member Pam Nutt said. “We are so fortunate to work with the nearly 6,000 incredibly talented professionals that we have here in support of student achievement at the highest levels.”

The leaders also pointed out the district's growth over the past decade, more than doubling from 20,000 students to just over 43,000 today, the district said.
Henry also saw an 11.3 point improvement in this year's CCRPI scores. Henry improved from an overall 66 score last year to a 77.3 this year.
“The work that our board has accomplished over the past 18 months shows what is possible when people truly work toward the goal of making the education experience exceptional for every single student in the district,” board vice chairwoman Holly Cobb said.
