The Henry County Police Department will start 2020 with $71,000 in new equipment to improve law enforcement abilities for the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions as well as Special Operations vehicles.

The department is buying 180 cellular smartphones equipped with digital body cameras that offer audio and video storage on the cloud.

The smartphones, Verizon Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2, also include GPS and 24-hour mobile access to department email and text messaging, the county said.

Henry Police also is buying 35 Verizon Jet pack MiFi devices for the criminal division and 118 dash camera systems for the department.

The new equipment will be purchased with funds from the Federal Seized Funds account.
