Due to coronavirus concerns, Henry County’s public schools will close for two weeks beginning Monday, March 16, according to an announcement made the afternoon of March 12 by Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis.

All district-associated activities were suspended immediately upon release of the announcement. The decision was made in consultation with the Department of Public Health and the Georgia Department of Education, Davis stated. The extended closure will allow for a thorough cleaning of all facilities and district property, for district officials to implement continuity plans, and for state officials to continue to assess the COVID-19 situation.

A remote learning plan will be implemented for students, and teachers will have digital office hours for students and parents to ask questions or get assistance.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down.
