The Henry Zoning Advisory Board voted at its Nov. 8 regular meeting to recommend approval of a rezoning request for 168.51 acres located at 1007 Flippen Road next to the Interstate 75 overpass.

The proposed rezoning is from RA (residential agricultural) to RS (residential suburban), and a conceptual site plan shows 260 single-family residential lots of 7,440-8,640 square feet along with 130 townhouse lots. The proposed net density is 5.94 dwelling units per acre with 50 percent open space, which county staff said is supported by the future land use map’s designation of medium-density residential development for that site.

The request will now be heard by the Henry County Board of Commissioners in the near future.
