One of Henry County’s most dangerous intersections is getting a four-way stop and a study that could portend more changes.

The intersection of Lester Mill Road and Bill Gardner Parkway is getting the improvement after years of accidents, Henry County leaders say. Lester Mill was realigned in 2017, but issues at the intersection did not improve, even after the installation last year of flashing lights to warn motorists of its approach.

“It is all about reducing the risk of accidents and injuries on the roadways and saving the lives of our citizens,” said Henry Commissioner Johnny Wilson, in whose district the road is located.

Henry, the second-fastest growing county in metro Atlanta, is struggling to improve its roads as demand from motorists have grown with its population increase.

Henry leaders said improvements to intersection is part of the county’s SPLOST and will take about six to eight months to complete.
