A Buckhead woman awoke early Saturday to find a stranger standing over her, Atlanta police said Sunday.
The woman, whose name was not released, said the man threatened her and told her to expose herself to him, but she refused and ran out of her apartment around 6:45 a.m., Officer John Chafee told the AJC. Atlanta officers were dispatched to the apartment after callers reported a woman screaming, but were unable to locate a suspect, he said.
The suspect took several items before leaving the apartment, located in the 1900 block of Peachtree Park Drive, Chafee said. The woman was not injured.
Investigators have not yet determined if the crime is related to a similar incident earlier this month and others in the area in January. But it is possible the latest crime involved the same suspect, Chafee said.
In January, Atlanta police warned Buckhead residents of an alleged sexual predator after three crimes were reported during a three-week period in the area of Lenox Road and Peachtree Park Drive.
Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
