A number of initiatives were approved Aug. 13 by the Hampton City Council.

The Hampton City Council voted at its Aug. 13 regular meeting to place the so-called “brunch bill,” which would extend the hours for Sunday alcohol sales, on the November ballot.

The council also authorized the issuance of an employment contract for the city clerk’s appointment and approved the hiring of an accounting firm at a rate of $175 per hour, as well as the acceptance of a $75,303.44 bid for telephone services over a three-year period.

A public hearing was held regarding a proposed annexation of property on South Hampton Road, and first readings of two ordinances relating to that issue were approved.
