Interstate 85 at Hamilton Mill in northeast Gwinnett is starting to ice, with cars spinning out, according to a state patrol officer and truckers at 10:00 a.m.

Donnie Barnes, who lives in the area, walked nearly a mile to the interstate to see if he might be able to make it to his job as a supervisor at an auto parts restoration distribution center in Duluth.

Then he heard from the patrol officer, who was on the way to a spin out.

“He just made my decision for me,” Barnes said before trudging back toward home.
