A 60-year-old man was arrested Friday and charged with killing his wife during a domestic dispute, Gwinnett County police said.

Authorities responded to the scene in the 2600 block of Kachina Trail near Dacula around 10:15 a.m.

The suspect, Egbert Courtney, was taken into custody in the front yard, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said. Courtney’s wife, Sonia, 58, was found dead in the home, apparently from gunshot wounds, he said.

Egbert Courtney is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
