The Gwinnett crime roundup is a regular look at crime of note in the county. Information is gleaned from arrest warrants, police incident reports and jail records. It consists of allegations only.

A noisy neighborhood pool fight

On June 3, Gwinnett County police issued warrants charging two women — ages 28 and 32 — in connection with a fight at a neighborhood pool.

According to the warrants, one woman hit the alleged victim at 2335 Valley Mill Drive in Buford while yelling obscenities and phrases like "you wish you were pretty like us." The second woman was accused of "yelling vulgar language at pool attendants and in the presence of children."

She also threatened the responding police officer, warrants said.

Both women were charged with simple assault and public drunk.

A Kroger cellphone snatching

On June 2, Gwinnett County police issued arrest warrants accusing a 17-year-old Lawrenceville resident of snatching a man's cellphone in the parking lot of a local Kroger store.

The original incident took place on April 28. According to police, the victim was walking to his car outside the store at 1475 Buford Drive when one man "called him over to speak with him." The victim was speaking with the group of males when one snatched his iPhone 6 and ran off. They all drove off in a dark-colored passenger car.

It was not immediately clear Tuesday if any of the other males had been charged in the case.

'Place both hands around the victim's neck'

On June 4, Gwinnett County police issued warrants charging a 24-year-old Loganville man with first-degree child cruelty.

The warrants allege the man "placed both his hands around the [male juvenile] victim's neck, choked him, then picked him up by the neck and pushing him against a bedroom door, leaving a cut on the victim's back."

The alleged incident took place on Autumn Village Court near Duluth. The child's relationship to the suspect was unclear.

Stealing from Golden Corral

On June 3, Gwinnett County police issued warrants accusing a 40-year-old Duluth woman of stealing "food and drink" from a local Golden Corral.

The alleged incident happened May 30 at the restaurant on 4020 Buford Drive, not far from the Mall of Georgia. What, exactly, the woman is accused of stealing was unclear — warrants say only that its value was less than $1,500.
