Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash will address the county’s growth, upcoming MARTA expansion referendum and other issues at the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber First Friday Breakfast at 7:30 A.M. Jan. 4 at the Hilton Atlanta Northeast, 5993 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Peachtree Corners.
The population of Gwinnett is currently estimated at 920,000 and should surpass one million people before 2020 and may surpass 1.5 million by 2025 at the current growth rate. Along with that population increase comes a corresponding increase in traffic both in the county and in the metro area.
Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners voted to hold a special referendum on March 19 for Gwinnett County citizens to consider whether to approve a one cent sales tax that would fund the expansion of MARTA into the county.
Networking at the breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., presentation at 8 a.m. Reservations recommended: www.tinyurl.com/NashBreakfast.
