The Grayson city council approved a materials variance Monday to allow Solomon Development Services to change the siding material used for construction of a 99-unit luxury assisted living community. The variance will increase the amount of siding on one portion of the building from the maximum of 10 percent to 27 percent. The remainder of the building complies with the requirements of the building ordinance.

The $26 million senior living center at 1754 Grayson Highway to be known as Dogwood Forest is expected to open in mid 2017.
