Georgia State University will lead a $10 million federal research project aimed at improving reading skills in children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The university's education college will create the National Research and Development Center for Literacy and Deafness which will work with other centers focused on special education issues.
Researchers will study how these children learn to read, with a strong focus on improving reading skills for kids in kindergarten through second grade.
