A resurfacing project of Ga. 20 in and around Cumming in Forsyth County was scheduled to start this week, with nightly work expected to continue for the next six months, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

Just over six miles of Ga. 20 will be resurfaced between Samaritan Drive and Samples Road, GDOT said. The project area includes downtown Cumming.

Crews of C.W. Mathews Contracting Co. Inc. will be working on both the eastbound and westbound lanes from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Sunday. The work will proceed as weather permits. GDOT advised drivers to stay alert and wait for the pilot car to guide them through single lane closures.
