Gwinnett Department of Transportation recently began a project to replace the Whitehead Road bridge over Line Creek in Lilburn. The project proposes to lengthen and widen the bridge for safer auto traffic as well as to clear the flood elevation without compromising the structure. The lengthened bridge will also allow room for the future greenway trail, which will pass below the bridge.

The new bridge will almost double the length of the existing structure. The project, according to GDOT, is expected to be completed in October. A road closure, with detour, has been created to allow the work to continue for no more than six months. Questions: dotconstruction@gwinnettcounty.com.
