Ga. 20 in Forsyth County – Canton Highway north of Cumming, and Buford Highway south of the city – will be resurfaced under a $3.08 million construction contract awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc., the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

Project boundaries extend from a point south of Samaritan Drive in Cumming, through the city, to the Trammell Road/Samples Road area 3.7 miles to the southeast, according to a GDOT project map. The job has a completion date of February.

In the same announcement, GDOT said it had awarded a $3.6 million contract to Pittman Construction Co. to resurface 7.89 miles of Ga. 51 in Banks County, from Ga. 164 to the Franklin County line. That work also is to be finished in February.

“Lane closures and any interruptions to traffic during this work will be communicated to the traveling public as the project starts,” GDOT said. “Please drive alert and slow down when approaching a work zone.”
