The average price of gas across metro Atlanta has dropped a dime in the past week, with many stations now selling a gallon of regular unleaded for under $3.
The average price across metro Atlanta early Monday stood at $3.10, according to atlantagasprices.com, a website that monitors how much stations are charging.
A week ago, that average was $3.20, and a month ago, the average was $3.26. The current average is about a quarter a gallon more than a year ago, the website reported.
While the average price is still a dime above the $3 mark, motorists don't have to look hard to find prices beginning with a 2.
The lowest prices reported were $2.94 at stations in Snellville and Cumming and $2.95 in Douglasville, Buford and Hiram. Most of the warehouse clubs across metro Atlanta were selling gas for $2.96 a gallon.
Statewide, the cheapest gas was in the Augusta area, where several stations were charging $2.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
