An 8-year-old boy shot to death in his DeKalb County home was funeralized Saturday evening.

Solomon Zellner, of Lithonia, will be cremated and his remains will be delivered to family in Louisiana after the proceedings, funeral staff at Gus Thornhill Funeral Home in East Point said.

Solomon died early Thursday after allegedly being shot by his 16-year-old cousin, Charlie Oliver. Oliver, who was arrested and charged with murder, called the shooting an accident. He is being held without bond in the DeKalb County jail.

Solomon would have been in the second grade this fall at Fairington Elementary School, Jeff Dickerson, spokesman for DeKalb County schools, told the AJC.

Solomon's mother, Angela Ramos, put a call out to the community to raise money to pay for the boy's funeral, initially expecting to have to delay it.

Investigators have not yet determined what led to the shooting nor who owned the gun.
