The owners of a Buckhead bar have established a GoFundMe account to help the family of a woman who was fatally shot outside the establishment.

Anchor Down Grille owners and NFL veterans Uche Nwaneri and Edawn Coughman said they were "heartbroken" by the death of Taylor Hayden, the sister of Minnesota state Sen. Jeff Hayden.

Hayden, 25, of Houston, was killed in the parking lot of the Piedmont Road bar about 5 a.m. Saturday. A management trainee with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hayden recently graduated from Prairie View A&M University in Texas.

“In these times of devastating shootings,” Coughman said, “it never occurred to us that such a tragedy would happen near our restaurant. People need to learn to settle disagreements without guns.”

The GoFundMe account was started with $1,000, and donations were at $1,265 Tuesday morning.

“We know this fund will not replace the loss of this wonderful woman nor console her grieving family,” Coughman said, “but we just felt moved to do something to help them out.”

On Monday, the Buckhead Coalition, a nonprofit civic association, issued a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for her death.

Anyone with any information in the shooting should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 404-577-8477 or go online to crimestoppersatlanta.org.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
