Assuming weather cooperates, the Georgia DOT will shift traffic to use newly built lanes of the roadway along State Route 347/Friendship Road from I-985 to Hog Mountain/Ridge Road in Braselton beginning Thursday. This shift allows crews to rebuild the original lanes of SR 347 in the area.

Brent Cook, Georgia DOT District Engineer serving Northeast Georgia, reminded drivers to, “Please slow down through the work zone and use extra caution as everyone gets used to these changes. Remember to buckle up, put away your electronic devices and drive alert not drowsy, drugged or distracted!”

The construction contract for this 7.97-mile long project awarded to E.R. Snell Contracting Inc. of Snellville will cost $38.4 million and should be complete by Jan. 12.
