Free meals are available to students in Fayette, Coweta, Clayton and Henry Counties over the summer to take the place of free lunches offered during the school year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture coordinates the program, which is open to all children age 18 and under. South metro locations include the Fayette Recreation Center at 980 Redwine Road in Fayetteville; China Grove Church at 45 China Grove Street in Turin; Wesley Chapel AME Church at 4825 Happy Valley Circle in Newnan; and Tips for Teens at 9286 Grady Drive in Jonesboro. A list and map of all meal locations, which will be continually updated, is at www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks. Information is also available by texting “Summer Meals” to 97779 or calling 866-348-6479. There is no cost or enrollment required to participate.
