DeKalb County officials are offering to conduct free bicycle safety checks and give out helmets next weekend.

At the “bike safety rodeo” on May 11, bike riders ages 6 to 12 are encouraged to visit Wade Walker Park YMCA near Stone Mountain from 9 a.m. to noon, according to a statement from the county.

DeKalb police officers will be on hand to perform the checks, and the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department will give out free helmets to participants.

Registration isn’t required. The YMCA is located at 5605 Rockbridge Road.
