To encourage people to adopt shelter animals, Forsyth County has launched a "Summer of Love" promotion, reducing the fee to do so by more than half for adoptions made through Sept. 3

The standard pet adoption fee is now $40, down from $85 previously. It includes microchipping for all pets, altering and age-appropriate vaccinations.

The shelter, at 4065 County Way just off Ga. 400 in northern Forsyth, is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Those seeking to adopt also can visit Beaver Toyota, 1875 Buford Highway, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second Saturday of the month to interact with some of the shelter’s pets.

"With the warmer weather outside and with kids now home from school, the summer is a great time to for many families to adopt a new pet," said Animal Shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella. "All of the pets in the shelter deserve a good home, and we are hopeful that this promotion will help families be able to bring a new companion home." Information: https://bit.ly/2LNH9FF
