Forsyth County residents are invited to participate in an online survey of possible names for the new Middle School No. 11, opening in August 2021 on Hyde Road in Cumming.
The Forsyth County School District asks respondents to choose one of three names: “Cobb Creek” runs through the school property and is named for the Cobb family, which had ties to Native Americans and early Forsyth history; “Drew,” for unincorporated Drew, named after Drew E. Bennett, an early postmaster; or “Hendricks,” for former Forsyth Board of Education member Don Hendricks, who died in 2002.
Respondents also can suggest their own names, which should be “historic or have a significant reference to the geography of the area where the school is located,” or “honor a distinguished deceased person” who made an extraordinary contribution to the schools, had a record of distinction in their respective field, or was a positive role model and had a demonstrated commitment to excellence, the district said.
The survey closes Jan. 30. Information: https://bit.ly/2RTMHnL
