A Forsyth County man died Thursday night after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a tree.

Cody Frank Luther Rogers, 19, of Bottoms Road, Cumming, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened at about 8 p.m. on Settingdown Road near the intersection of Bottoms Road in north Forsyth County.

Rogers was riding his 2011 Kawasaki 650 motorcycle on Settingdown Road when he entered a curve too fast and lost control of the motorcycle, according to Cpl. David Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcycle left the roadway and hit the tree. Rogers was thrown from the motorcycle, which then traveled another 17 feet before stopping, Garrison said.

He said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
