“GIS Day” in Forsyth County in November will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the county’s Geographic Information Services at an informational open house.

The free event is set for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Suite 220 of the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming. GIS staff will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate applications and resources available to the public.

Visitors will view the GIS Web Browser to find general information about the county; an Interactive Transportation Map to see updated information on road projects; Insight2Forsyth, to view active permits within a 30-day period; and Park Locator, to learn about a particular park or amenity.

“We want to put the power of information in our residents’ hands,” said Forsyth County Chief Information Officer Brandon Kenney. “Our GIS tools, many of which have been recently revamped, provide access to what is happening in our county’s communities like never before.”
