Forsyth County discusses planning board change
A proposal to replace the current Forsyth County Planning Commission with five sub-area planning boards — one for each commission district and better handle growth — got mixed reaction at a public hearing late last week.
A couple of residents opposed the idea of creating a much larger planning superstructure, while one speaker said she liked the idea of staggering building permit approval to give Forsyth County Schools time to catch up with growth issues.
The idea gained traction after a sub-planning group was established for District 2 in Southeast Forsyth, as an adjunct to the main planning commission.
Following the hearing, commissioners voted 5-0 to put the matter on a work session agenda this week.
