The Forsyth County Fire Department is again taking applications for its Citizens’ Fire Academy, a 10-week program now in its sixth year offering residents an inside look at firefighting, county officials announced.

Completed application packets, including signed and notorized liability release and confidentiality agreements, are due by Feb. 15. Information and applications: 770-205-5699 or https://bit.ly/2SpXtzj.

Classes will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 5 to May 14 (taking April 2 off for spring break), at Fire Department Headquarters in the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex, 3520 Settingdown Road. A live burn day will be held Saturday, May 18, and a special graduation night, Tuesday, May 21.

Each applicant must be a Forsyth resident at least 25 years old, with no prior felony conviction. Everyone must make a 10-week commitment to the program. Space is limited, and participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis pending a successful background check.
