Forsyth to consider road bonds
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners takes a key step on road improvements this week. At Thursday’s meeting, it will consider a resolution authorizing issuance of $100 million in general obligation bonds to fund transportation projects.
Forsyth voters approved up to $200 million in a transportation bond in a November 2014 referendum.
One project on the detailed list is widening Ga. 400 one lane in each direction from McFarland Parkway to at least Bald Ridge Marina Road. County spokeswoman Jodi Gardner said issuing the bonds this week would enable them to meet an upcoming deadline to send $53 million to GDOT for the project, which is a state-county partnership under state management.
GDOT officials hope to have construction underway late this year.
