One of two new Forsyth County High schools coming on line next school year now has its top leadership in place.
The Forsyth County Board of Education appointed Heather Gordy as principal of Denmark High School, which is set to open in August 2018 in southwest Forsyth. Gordy’s been with the system for 17 years and currently serves as principal of West Forsyth High School.
District spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo said Gordy will work with district officials, the general contractor and architect on the school’s construction, hire staff, plan the curriculum , student organizations and athletics and meet the community. She said the school will open with grades 9-11 and will have an eventual capacity of 2,500 students.
Board members also heard that the construction of the school is coming along well, with structural steel erection running ahead of schedule.
