Bastrop resident Isahiah Arellano, 25, was arrested by the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday after being indicted by a grand jury on three counts of sexual assault of a child.

Arellano, who had previously been employed as a youth minister at Impact Fellowship Church and Foundation Church in Bastrop, allegedly admitted to investigators that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim, who was 16, on three occasions spanning the first of April until April 29, according the sheriff’s office.

According to Pastor Mike Vega at Impact Fellowship Church, Arellano has been dismissed from his youth pastor position and no other parishioners have been identified as potential victims. Pastor Chris Pena with Foundation Church has also stated that no other parishioners have come forward, officials said.

Arellano had been allowed to move in with the family of the victim in December 2013 because he didn’t have anywhere else to stay, officials said.

The resident who initially alerted police officials to the sexual activity said she had been sleeping in the living room when she woke up, walked to the kitchen and walked by the game room, where she observed Arellano having sex with the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators said that Arellano has denied any other sexual encounters with the victim.
