The former dean of Kennesaw State University's College of Education was convicted of making false statements, the state Attorney General's Office said Monday.

Yiping Wan was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay $3,930 in restitution and a $2,000 fine.

Wan, who resigned from the Kennesaw State in 2007, stood trial for misrepresenting to the college the cost of airline tickets between August 2005 and April 2006. By overstating the cost and being reimbursed for that amount, Wan received $3,930 more than he was entitled to from the college, according to the state.
