A former Falcons cheerleader is in jail after being linked to an accused chop shop operator, the Athens Banner-Herald is reporting.

Kori Lanard, an ex-Falcons cheerleader, and her sister, Lauren Lanard, were arrested April 29 in Lincoln County. They are suspected accomplices in a chop shop operation run by 38-year-old Kirk Devon Bray.

"This is a case that's turning into epic proportions," Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry told the Banner-Herald on Tuesday. "Every rock you kick over, you find new evidence."

Bray was arrested May 5 after he crashed a stolen truck into a car driven by a deputy’s grandparents on the Oconee Connector, the Banner-Herald said. Authorities have linked Bray to trucks, trailers and heavy equipment that were stolen from metro Atlanta to the South Carolina border.
