A Flowery Branch man was shot and killed Christmas morning by his brother, Hall County sheriff’s deputies report.
The shooting was witnessed by the suspect’s son, who called 911 around 9:30 a.m. but hung up without talking, said sheriff’s spokesman Mark Mitchell.
Mark Alan Fyfe, 52, was arrested following a standoff with deputies in the 6400 block of River Hill Drive. His brother, 54-year-old Alan Scott Fyfe was found lying in the backyard of the residence, mortally wounded, Mitchell said. Alan Fyfe was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
His brother, holed up inside the apartment with his son, Kevin, refused to open the door to deputies inquiring who had made the 911 call. The Hall County SWAT team was called in and negotiated his surrender without incident, Mitchell said.
Mark Fyfe, being held without bond in the Hall County Jail, was charged with murder, three counts of obstructing an officer and one count of interfering with government property, Mitchell said. Kevin Fyfe, 21, was not charged.
The suspect served a one-year prison sentence in 1980 for burglary, according to public documents, which show no record of any violent crimes.
The shooting remains under investigation. Deputies have not disclosed a motive for the alleged fratricide.
