As the rain began making its way out of metro Atlanta early Saturday morning, scattered traffic accidents on wet roads, some power outages and the threat of flooding were left in the aftermath.

Accidents were reported on several major roadways, including a five-car accident on the southbound Downtown Connector at Williams Street.

Georgia Power reported 1,600 outages statewide, 1,300 of them in metro Atlanta, nearly have of them in Smyrna in Cobb County.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for Fulton and Forsyth counties that remained in effect until around 3:45 p.m. Flood warnings for Gwinnett and DeKalb had expired.

According to the Red Cross, volunteers responded to flooding at the Stone Creek Apartments on N. Camp Creek Parkway in southwest Atlanta, where water had seeped into seven units.
