A Johns Creek couple escaped a fire which heavily damaged their two-story home early Sunday.
Fire officials officials said the pair was asleep in their home on Brier Mill Court about 1:55 a.m. when smoke alarms woke them. They fled the smoke-filled home, saw the roof and deck on fire once outside and called 911.
Johns Creek fire units extinguished the blaze at about 4:30 a.m. and took the woman to Emory Johns Creek Hospital, where she was treated for smoke inhalation and released.
The cause is under investigation, but fire officials said the blaze did not appear suspicious.
