A Thursday night fire that burned down a barn led to the deaths of one dog and one horse at a Villa Rica equestrian center used as a therapeutic program for children with disabilities, at-risk children and victims of domestic violence.

Pure Horse Play and Equestrian Center, on a 32-acre ranch about 34 miles west of Atlanta, housed 15 horses, according to the business.

The center is hoping to raise $10,000 to replace the barn and the family's belongings destroyed in the fire.

The barn caught fire about 11 p.m. and appears to be electrical in nature, according to Channel 2 Action News.
