A fire at an apartment complex on Lindbergh Drive in Buckhead damaged 26 units Saturday, the American Red Cross said.
The fire at the 771 Lindbergh Apartments was near the Lindbergh MARTA station.
The blaze began somewhere on the fourth floor, Channel 2 Action News reported. Firefighters said wind made it more difficult to fight the fire.
There also was concern about the water supply. "We had to pull water from Lindbergh Avenue to get adequate water supply on the apparatus we had to extinguish the fire," Atlanta Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Chris Wessels said.
No injuries were reported.
Units on every floor sustained some type of damage, Channel 2 reported.
Volunteers will be meeting with people displaced by the blaze to help meet emergency needs for shelter, food, clothing and replacement prescriptions, Red Cross spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said.
Smoke from the fire caused "spectator delays" on Ga. 400 and I-85 in the afternoon, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Also, traffic in the area was "heavy" while crews battled the fire, Atlanta police spokesman Donald T. Hannah said.
"My heart is broken for the families that I know that have lost so much in this fire," neighbor Melissa Echezarria said.
